Happiness springs from contentment

Happiness springs from contentment with what you have; misfortune comes from rapaciousness. Contentment brings about wealth. A virtuous gentleman is naturally a good leader and will eventually enjoy nobility. Hence, a person who values titles of nobility but downplays moral integrity cannot be regarded as a man of nobility even though he has become the Son of Heaven. And the person who ceaselessly craves for wealth would never be happy even if he had owned all the riches on earth..

作者简介】:韩婴(約前200年-前130年),涿郡鄚人(今河北任丘人)。文帝时为博士,景帝时至常山王刘舜太傅。武帝时,与董仲舒辩论,不为所屈。治《诗》兼治《易》,西汉“韩诗学”的创始人,其诗语与齐、鲁大不相同,他推测《诗》之意,杂引《春秋》或古事,与经义不相比附,与周秦诸子相出入,皆引《诗》以证事,而非引事以明《诗》。燕、赵言《诗》皆本于韩婴。赵子、淮南贲生即其高徒。赵子传蔡谊,三传形成韩诗的王学,食子学和长孙学,学徒甚多。《韩诗外传是一部由360条趣闻轶事、道德说教、伦理规范以及实际忠告等不同内容的杂编,一般每条都以一句恰当的《诗经》引文作结论,以支持政事或论辩中的观点。(引自《维基百科》)
